What Makes PewDiePie So Good?

We all know he got married. In fact, Felix aka PewDiePie getting married was such a big deal that we’re guessing it was probably more talked-about than the Royal weddings—and of course, it was far less boring.

Business Insider broke the news of his marriage, and so did Express UK, BuzzFeed, The Sun, CNN, and almost all major news outlets. How did this man—who began by making funny videos on YouTube—go from average Joe to Mr. My-Marriage-Is-Covered-By-Major-News-Outlets?

The answer is simple and plain enough: PewDiePie is an influencer and a darn good one.

So, Who is He?

Most of us have seen his videos, and maybe most of you know that PewDiePie’s YouTube channel is the most-subscribed channel on YouTube with 100,548,987 subscribers. Well, second-best now, thanks to his war with T-Series. But that doesn’t change the fact that PewDiePie is the first-ever person to hit 100 million subscribers—T-Series isn’t an individual so that doesn’t count.

His actual name, as many of us know, is Felix. He’s Swedish. And he began his journey from “Let’s Play”. Basically, Felix is a guy who lived video games and began commenting on them and sharing them for entertainment. His commentary won over people by virtue of being original, unique, and very quirky.

PewDiePie: The Comedy

What Makes PewDiePie So Good?

Although his claim to fame was video games, what really sold him was his comedy. Felix lets his own personality show in his videos and that makes him endearing, and relatable to his audiences. Of course, YouTube’s video-gaming community loves him regardless.

So What Makes PewDiePie So Good?

Felix did what we tell aspiring influencers to do all the time: select a niche, work out what you’re most invested in, and stick to it. He was a video game lover. And that’s what he stuck with. And as we all know, it worked. Felix wasn’t the first person to have played video games, but he sure was one of the first people to religiously comment on them.

Moreover, PewDiePie’s content has never been redundant or repetitive. His videos were never boring.

Felix keeps it regular and he embraces a little diversity now and then. He has delved into podcasts, played fan-made video games, and has done countless collab videos with other YouTubers. One of who he ended up marrying.

He keeps his content new and brief. Felix sure knows how to keep people’s attention hooked!

He is consistent and what’s best is that his thumbnails are very thoughtful. It’s not just clichéd regular pictures or tags in his clickbait. He makes sure he spends time and puts thought into what to put in the thumbnail—something so outrageous and funny that anyone would click. And one click is all it takes for someone to become hooked to Felix!
